Video 2 of: “17 Ways To Get More Stuff Done!”
Creating a Time Leverage Map.
In Video 1 we talked about doing a Time Survey. This means writing down everything you do, every half an hour, from 07:00 to 22:30 every working day for two weeks. This is a tough thing to do, but worth the effort.
Once you know what you’re doing with your time, then the next step is to plot it on a chart called a Time Leverage Map.
Every task you do needs to be rated as to how much Skill it requires (on a vertical axis) and how much Fun it is to perform (on the horizontal axis).
The tasks should then be placed on a chart.
It will become really apparent where the majority of your time is being spent.
We then add bands of cost to the chart. Items in the low Skill, Low fun area would be marked as £10 per hour in value. We then move up to the second bracket of £25 per hour and place a bracket around those. Moving up to the high Skill and high Fun items and valuing them at around £100 per hour. This is where a Business Owner should be spending most of their time.
The idea of this is to outsource the items that are in the £10 an hour sector in order to free up your time to work in the £100 per hour sector.
