Although most people will have goals, there are some people who will achieve these goals in a much shorter time period than others. The primary reason for this is that they have a strong action plan, which is helping them to constantly move towards these goals. Here is how you can create a plan that works to help you reach your goals sooner:
Decide your specific aims
When you create an action plan, it’s imperative to decide what your specific aims are. Being clear from the beginning makes it easier to measure, such as giving a set time period or level to achieve the goal in. Breaking goals into different areas of your business (or life) also makes it easier to measure and achieve these, but being specific is what is going to help you get there.
Write your goals down
Once you have decided your goals, you should write them down. This can take less than 30 seconds to write down a few main goals, and the act of physically writing these down is what will embed them into your subconscious and help you to take the best approach to accomplish them.
Give yourself clear deadlines
As mentioned, giving deadlines for your goals is important, to help measure them. Some goals may be made up of smaller goals, which you can create sub-deadlines for. If you don’t achieve the first goal, then all of your deadlines will move back, so it forces you to do your best to try to achieve your goal on time to meet your deadlines. You may find it takes some trial and error to learn to set realistic deadlines, but over time you will know what is achievable.
List required actions
Once you’ve set your goal/s, you will need to identify areas to overcome, actions to take and who needs to achieve these, in order to fulfil the goal. The more detailed this is, the more motivated you will be, and you will learn to prioritise the most important things. It will also show you how some actions must be done in sequence and help you to work on these in order where needed, so listing these in chronological order can help to ensure nothing is missed, and you are getting each completed as efficiently as possible.
Plan in detail
The best way to now create your plan is to create a comprehensive list by day, week and month. Ideally, you will have a 90-day plan (and perhaps longer-term plans too, which will be made up of these shorter plans). For every minute you spend planning, you are estimated to save 10 minutes of execution time, so it really is worth planning in-depth as much as possible.
Getting started
Now your action plan is ready, you can begin the actions within your plan, track your progress on each item, and make any changes as you go if needed.
