Calvin Coolidge is quoted as saying
Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.
I want to ask if that is true then why do we have the phrase
“They are a real trier ”
I would like to rewrite that quote to read
Nothing and no one can stand alone in this world. Talent cannot: nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are not enough to succeed; being a trier is just hard work unrewarded It is only when you add persistence and determination to the desire to educate yourself and develop your talents that true genius emerges. It is then your desire to be better, to achieve and your acceptance that in order to see change you must change that true success becomes assured.
