Happy Shrove Tuesday to all!

A little over a month into the year and it already looks like this year is panning out well for my clients. Sorry about the pan, or is it pun?

My clients’ lead generation is growing (by over 50% in some cases), sales are up (over 30% in some cases!), the profits are growing beyond expectation. I like to challenge my clients  when it’s needed and get then to do  more of what works.

Shrove Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday when the 40 days of Lent commences and we are expected to give something up.

I challenge you for the next 40 days to cut down on jobs and tasks that can be delegated. Here is how it works. Delegating tasks that others can do is hard, we tend to like doing things that come easy and natural to us, but in many cases are the tasks that aren’t worth our time and losing your business money. Identify the tasks that others in your company can do – be it writing a newsletter, issuing invoices or replying to emails. Remember, only do what only you can do.

Delegating releases your time to do things that bring real value to your business such as strategic planning, strengthening relationships with customers, revisiting and improving processes and tracking your team’s adherence to your 90 day plan.

For the next 40 days I challenge you to spend most of your time on the tasks that the Managing Director should be doing, not what the marketing professional or accountant or a PA should be doing. Try and delegate as much as you can to your team and see what amazing results this brings.

By the way, I was in charge of making the pancakes this morning as there are some things you just can’t delegate, right ?
