🍰 BAKE OFF DISASTER! 🎂
We had a Bake Off contest in a fab hotel. 50 of us were split into 6 teams, the bakes were demonstrated by professionals, clear instructions were left on the tables & the chef shouted: “BAKE!”
😵 We buzzed into action.
The Showstopper was to craft a Ginger Bread house.
The dough was rolled out, carefully measured, placed on a baking tray & cooked to perfection.
😋 We assembled the pieces and realised we’d forgotten to create a roof!
😱 We didn’t win. 😭 How could this happen❓
Surely a roof is an essential & obvious part of a house❓
But we missed it.
⭐ This happens in business all the time.
We get professional advice. We have a plan. We execute the plan, rushing about to meet the deadline. A flurry of activity, heads down, working hard. Focused on the work & trying to juggle all the other tasks. And we miss something big.
⭐ In business this can hurt… a lot.
In Bake Off, if the Chef had come round & coached us at intervals then he’d have helped us notice the lack of a roof.
In business if you’ve a mentor they can help you take a moment to stop working “In” your business and instead work “On” it. This means it’s easier to spot missing pieces & take corrective action.
