🌈 “There’s a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!” – Whenever we saw one, that’s what my Irish Nan would say.

I saw one on Sunday & it reminded me of a wet August day when I saw the biggest and brightest rainbow in my life.

Being an adventurous 7 year old I set out to get that pot of gold.  🌈

🍓 I made myself a strawberry jam sandwich & bid my gran goodbye with the promise that our financial worries would be over when I got back.

💦Off I went through muddy fields, over fences, under brambles and  through streams.

I’d been going for hours – the rainbow seemed no closer.

So I decided that if I ran then I would make more progress.

I gave it all I had for what seemed like hours (probably just a couple of minutes) and then fell to the ground gasping for breath.

After spending most of my day chasing the rainbow it vanished and I made my way home, covered in mud, soaking wet & cold.

I learned my lesson.

💦 Marketing can be like chasing an imaginary pot of gold.

If it’s done badly, with no testing & measuring then it can waste a lot of energy, time & money.

About 80% of marketing just doesn’t work.

I help companies to improve their results in marketing.
