😲 “Where are the floor buttons in this lift?”

That was my first question when I entered.

When the doors closed and the lift started moving I almost went into panic mode 😬 – How does the lift know what level I want to go to?

🤔 The answer was: It didn’t.

Instead of the 1st Floor, I ended up on the 13th.  😡

I then had to exit the lift, swipe my card and choose the floor I wanted to go to.

Good old computerised lifts!

And it struck me – this is how a team member might feel when we implement change in their business:

✔  Confused (Where are the lift buttons? How do I get where I want to go?)

✔  Discomforted (There should be buttons, how come there aren’t any?)

✔  Uncertain (What do I do now?)

✔  Out of Control (I am being taken to a floor I don’t want to go to)

✔  Surprised (A computerised automatic lift – This is unexpected!)

✔  Concerned (Can I get to the floor I want to be on?)

✔  More work (I am now on the 13th floor, in a normal lift I could have gone directly to the 1st floor which was my destination!)
