Do you have a Unique Selling Proposition?  I mean truly UNIQUE, not “Great service” or “Been in business for 25 years”.  How would if affect your business if you were truly different from the competition and able to stand head and shoulders above them? You wouldn’t need to worry about price, because you’d be elevated above all that. So how do you come up with a USP?

I did a talk to 40 business owners at Santander Bank last week on this exact topic.

Here’s a place to start with your USP:

⭐ Analyse your competition. ⭐

Look through their web site – meticulously, every page.

Read their brochures & all of their marketing material

Get someone to pretend to be a potential customer (bit sneaky that!).

Find out what they’re doing & get ideas on what you could do better.

Look for gaps in their services that you could implement in your own business.

⭐ Survey your customers. ⭐

Find out what they like &, more importantly, what they don’t like.

Make sure it’s anonymous as you won’t get an honest answer otherwise.

⭐ Work out WHO your target market is. ⭐

Specifically.

The more specific your “Avatar” is the easier it will be to market to them.

⭐ Provide Critical Non Essentials. ⭐

The little things that nobody else does.

Extras that people don’t expect.

Go above & beyond.
