I find it interesting the number of SME’s that have a bimbo website, let me explain, they look great on the surface but are really shallow and don’t really achieve the number of leads or sales that the business could potentially be getting so is yours looking good or working great?
From a strategy point of view this is a little like buying a Ferrari with no engine, it’s looking good but not going to get you anywhere.
You may think that websites must look great and have the latest features or you may have been sold that idea, you may think that people don’t stay on a website with out great graphics, videos and glossy pictures.
You may be right and yet just for a second stop and think of the most successful websites in the world.
Who are they?
What do they look like?
For my money I would put Amazon, Google YouTube and even maybe Ebay right at the top of that particular tree and yet none of them looks fantastic in fact Ebay looks a little outdated, Amazon until recently wasn’t much better and still looks simple today, YouTube is a simple list of Videos and Google has simplified over time and removed more from their pages than they have put in and even Facebook doesn’t look fantastic.
Google did $80 Billion on ad revenue last year, Amazon did $178 Billion and your website probably looks better than Amazons.
The Question should not be “what do people think about the look of my website”, the question should be what potentially can a great website deliver for our business?
I have hosting a complimentary Social Media and Digital Marketing Event on the 11th September at Cleeve House in Wiltshire that will cover some of these points, if you are close enough and would like to come along click here and reserve a spot.
