Dynamite Presentation series – This video is 3 minutes and 26 seconds long.

How do you keep people engaged when you’re doing a long presentation?

No matter how good you are as a presenter there’ll always be situations where people will drift off, start snoozing or stop paying attention to what you’re saying.

There’s a couple of techniques you can use to minimise Disengaged Delegates (DDs for short).

Get them to participate.

Raise their hands in responses to questions.

This is also a great way for you to gauge interest & opinion of what you’re talking about.

You could leave your sentences…

…hanging at the end to get them to join in.

Set 2 minute exercises every 20 minutes or so.

Get them to discuss things with a partner or group on their table.

Make people stand up. Turn around. Stretch.

And then sit back down again.

Get them to pick up all of their stuff & swap seats with someone else in the room.

Don’t talk for longer than 45 minutes without setting them a 5 minute task or letting them have a decent break.
