‘Learn to Work Harder on Yourself than You do on Your job’

– Jim Rohn

We’re all familiar with the notion that ‘hard work is the key to success’, but how many of us really prioritise what our hard work goes towards?  Jim Rohn said, ‘Work harder on yourself than you do on your job’ and if you’re trying to make money, then this idea is priceless…

There’s a common misconception that we’re paid for our time, when in fact, we’re paid for our value. It’s what we’re doing during our working hours that makes us worth the wage we’re paid, so how do we increase the worth of what we’re doing? By working harder on ourselves than we do on our jobs.

Every role we take on in life provides us with more experience, we’re constantly learning, and with each new day and every new lesson we are becoming more valuable. People are forever underestimating their worth, seeing the outlines of a job description as the boundaries of their potential. But of course, this is wrong. You are not your job, you are the skillset that is constantly developing as you grow and adapt. As Rohn concludes, ‘If you work hard on your job you’ll make a living, if you work hard on yourself you can make a fortune’.

So, what are YOU currently doing to develop yourself?
