I started my first real business 20 yrs ago after being well paid at being self employed.

I saw opportunities to replicate myself & make a lot of cash.

So I employed my brother, my cousin, my mate from down the road & some blokes from the pub.

I didn’t use any recruitment system to ensure I got the right people.

I gave them little training & assumed that they could just get on with it.

I also carried on working as an IT trainer. Working in my business, not on it.

I was working 70 hrs a week. Doing all the admin, & bookings, dealing with client issues & team difficulties.

Every night I was away at hotels, on the phone or writing emails until 10pm.

This cost me time with my kids, holidays, hobbies, my friends & family. I missed out on life. I’d created a prison I couldn’t escape.

Not only that but the team I’d failed to train properly were causing constant headaches.

It’s like they couldn’t do anything correctly without checking with me all the time. And you know what really got to me – I was paying my trainers more than I was getting paid.

So I broke. I dismembered the business & went back to being just me.

If only I’d had a mentor with a system.
