It’s time to step up and start setting some real goals. So I’m reading this book by a kiwi called Andrew Johnston ( small changes/big results) and exchanging some messages with him on Facebook. I realise the time as he’s in Shanghai and its 02.30 am there. Does he not sleep?
Anyway, I get to page 23 and start reading the section ‘Discipline is Essential’. As I read his words about how he’s not a ‘runner’ but he hits the road 4 times a week and it’s good for him, I’m struck by a thought….Didn’t I try to register for the marathon but missed the deadline? Close shave I tell myself as I think there’s always 2020.
Next thing I know I’m checking my voicemail and there’s a message from a lady called Helena from the Alzheimer’s Society. I call her straight away…. “What are you doing on April 28th? ” she asks. Without hesitation I say …
“running the London Marathon by any chance?”. She says ” Yes, you are”.
I’m not a runner, I’ve never done a marathon ( more of a snickers man myself ) so here goes. I AM a runner. I did my first run yesterday and I’m creating the training plan. ( All advice welcome )
So, I’m required to raise £2000 but I thought , sod it ! Why not aim for £100k. That’s what happens when you listen to too many of Brad’s ‘Drive time’ videos.
My dad texted me and said ” You are mad. Start training”. He should know he was cross country runner in the RAF.
So, whatever your thoughts about me, about running, about Alzheimers please take a moment and think about the people you love and care about. I used to work for a global pharma company and would like them to spend more on research. My own mother died recently so I’ll be doing it for her.
If you would like to kick start my fundraising here is a link. Even £1 is great and if you can share the link even better.
Have a great week and now that I’ve shared my BHAG there’s no going back. Now, time to set some proper goals for my coaching business 🙂
