According to Forbes.com happy employees have up to 20% more productivity than unhappy ones. For businesses this means that improving their workplace cheeriness is more than simply a buzz topic. So, how would one go about helping their employees skip into work everyday? Well, we have a few ways in mind to increase happiness and productivity and here they are.

Credit where it’s due

We don’t mean start producing gold sticker charts here but by simply highlighting a milestone that’s been hit it can go a long way. Mentioning positive feedback from clients or a challenge that they have faced and defeated goes a long way. It doesn’t need to cost a penny either; a simple ‘thank you’ does the job nicely.

Know your employees

When you show you care, your employees will care right back. Of course, some of your team may be more reserved but simply asking about their weekend is a great start.

Team work for dream work

Sure, encouraging team work with days out is nothing new but there are plenty of ways to get inventive with this. It could be as easy as providing the odd lunchtime together rather than everyone eating on the run or on their own at their desks.

Make it lighter

There are bound to be stressful days and sometimes this stress can spur your staff on but it’s a fine line – it can have the opposite effect. A sense of humour can help. By creating an environment where your team know they can make the odd joke or make light of a mistake that might have happened, a greater connection will happen.
