It was a pleasure to work for another family run business, helping them to grow from 3 stores upto 8 stores with a turnover over £5m. We started with setting goals for the business and a plan for growth. Ali, my client was very focused on growing the business but initially was working at the front desk in the original flagship store in Chadwell Heath. This soon changed as Ali developed his team and the basement of the flagship store to allow for more support staff. Then we worked with Spot Studio to implement a bespoke EPOS system so we could identify all stock movements; average sale values and daily sales in each store (and online) and by each member of the sales team.
The next steps included developing the sales team in stores, learning to ‘walk the floor’; to up-sell; and a rewards scheme to motivate the right behaviour. With the appropriate systems in place, the business became repeatable and with new green branding, each store could be opened in weeks. There is so much more to say but overall they achieved phenomenal growth in sales and into a multi-million pound operation.
As a result, all my client’s personal goals were achieved – happy family, baby, holiday for his wife and the new home! He now focuses on his flagship store in Stratford and no longer needs to work in the business. We are now talking about his next venture…
