action plan

When you set off on a journey, you always have an end point and you usually have it all planned out. You ask yourself, what shall I take? How long will it take to get there? How many stops will I need to make? How much fuel will I need? Who controls the radio? What’s the best route? Will I take the shortest or scenic route?

In today’s world, we rely so much on Google Maps or a Sat Nav to guide our way down the road. BUT the point is, no one would get behind the wheel without a plan or route.

So why is Business any different? Sadly, many small business owners and business people don’t take out the time to plan with an end goal in mind. Not only does that mean they don’t have long term goals for their business, but also they have no clearly defined goals for their life.

CEO & Founder of ActionCOACH, super entrepreneur, best-selling author and philanthropist Brad Sugars, recently addresses this in his Drive Time video series.

Sugars asks, “Where do you want your life and your business to be in 5 years?”

“If you don’t have a plan, you are already there.”

These are five things to consider:

  1. Starting with an end in sight indicates that you have an idea of what you want your business to look like when it’s operating, growing and profitable even when you’re no longer in charge on a daily basis.
  2. Developing a family “Bucket List Plan” will ensure that your entire family actually has the life that they desire because there is a plan mapped out with action plans and timelines.
  3. It is important to also know what you don’t want. Being able to pinpoint what you would like to avoid will clarify the activities and actions you need to take to avoid the negative outcomes. Law of Attraction
  4. Your choice in peers and who you surround yourself with will go a long way to help you reach your goals. Disassociating yourself with those that block your progress or don’t believe in your vision contributes to reaching your ultimate destination.
  5. Accessing your progress in the past helps you determine the possibilities before you. Sometimes we underestimate how much we can accomplish. But when we look back and really review all we have done in just a year; it opens up a world of opportunities. Focused and dedicated action can move your business and personal life forward much quicker than you think.
