A lot of business owners out there are saying that you just can’t get the staff, that you can’t find the right people out there.  Well, the truth is the best people are already working for someone else. So, how do you get the very best people, the  A-Players out there into your business ?

It all starts with fixing your mindset.  Firstly, ask yourself how many people do you need ?  Is it fifteen, five or ten ?  It may come as a surprise but usually you are only looking for one person at any particular point in time, so get your mindset right.

Do you really believe it is impossible to find that one A-Player, that one brilliant person to come along and work in your business and be a part of your Dream Team ?  Well, surely that is not true.

More often than not the problem is that as a business owner you need to do a better job at finding these people.  Usually this involves a bit of learning on your part and then some clear and positive action.  So ask yourself …….

  • How well are you structured in finding these people ?
  • Are you making your business attractive to these people ?

You see, the truth is, if you don’t see recruiting as marketing then you are doing it all wrong.  So, I’ll let you into a secret….. Recruitment is in actual fact Marketing !  Yes, you heard me correctly and I’ll say it again, Recruitment is Marketing – Marketing Your Business as the Best Place to work and build a career.

Recruitment is all about  Marketing your business.  It is about giving those A Players out there reasons why they should want to work for you.

So, are you working hard enough and are you working smart enough in this particular area ? Do you need to improve your skillset?

Here’s a great piece of advice to help you find the very best out there even if the ‘labour market’ is ‘challenging’ – Think of “HELP WANTED” ads as more of a marketing piece.  Turn “HELP WANTED” into marketing and sell people on why they should come and work for you.

Aristotle said  “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” .  We all want to build the Dream Team in our business.  The facts are…..

  1. The better the people we recruit the easier our life is as a business owner…AND…
  2. The better the people we recruit, the more profitable we become.
     3. P.S.  Get this wrong and it will cost you c. £18,000 p.a. per failed recruit !
