“Who, exactly, seeks out a coach? Winners who want more out of their life” – Chicago Tribune

Why should I work with a business coach?

What are the benefits of coaching for my business?

Why should I spend the money?

These are some of the questions I get asked pretty regularly. After all, it is an investment of your time and money to work with me, and you want to make sure you’re going to see results at the end of it. The truth is, there are a lot of benefits coaching brings, and they will vary depending on you, your business and what your goals are. Since coaching is a very tailored and unique service, everyone will get slightly different benefits from it. However, there are benefits that every client sees, so I’m going to share those with you today.

The Benefits of Coaching for Your Business

It’s not surprising that people wonder why they should bother investing in a business coach. If you’ve never worked with one before, it can be difficult to see what difference we can make, and how a coach would help you. Luckily for you, I’m here to tell you!

Here are just a few of the benefits of a business coach, and the changes you could see in your business:

  • Increase profitability: Being in business is about making money on your own terms. If you’re not making the amount of money you want (or need) to, then something needs to change. A coach can help you understand why you aren’t as profitable as you’d like, and help you make changes that will see your bank account looking much healthier.
  • Solve problems: Coaching can be a great way to find solutions to issues that you’ve been struggling with for a while. One of the big benefits to coaching is that you can talk through any problems in a confidential, judgement-free space, and have a reliable sounding board to talk through all of your options and find the solution that works for you. Big or small, we can work through it together.
  • Develop your management skills: To grow your business you need to have a team and you need to know how to do this efficiently. This might mean developing your own management skills and leadership style, especially if you’ve never run a team before.
  • Master your own time: There are a lot of things that can take over your time as a business owner. There are always lots of plates to spin and distraction to happen. Being able to manage your own time is a basic skill of running a business, and coaching can help you master this. Take back control of your own time and give yourself space to focus on the most important tasks ahead of you.

And that’s just a few. To be honest, I could talk for hours about the benefits of coaching so if you want to know what some of the other benefits are, then we should probably have a chat.

Are There Any Personal Benefits to Business Coaching?

This is something you might be surprised by. After all, a business coach is there for your business, not to be your personal counsellor. And while on paper that is true, in reality as a business owner you are your business. You can’t get away from that. You’re emotionally invested in every part of it, and in order for it to succeed, you need to be in the best position you can be too.

Often working on the business brings up a lot of areas in your personal life that also need to improve or change. For example, if one of your goals is to stop taking on work that isn’t profitable or that you don’t want to do, then you may need to work on saying ‘no’ – which is personal development.

Coaching is not therapy – but it is a great way of understanding ‘how you tick’ and improving your behaviours and habits. This can help you make positive changes in both your business and your life. For example, working with a business coach can help you understand:

  • Your leadership style
  • Your communication style
  • How to enhance your strengths and identify your weaknesses
  • Understanding your work/life balance, and making sure it’s what you actually want
  • Identifying how your personality type and personal habits impact your business

So while I am not a therapist, there are a lot of things I can help you within your personal life – well as working on your business. In fact, some of my clients end up crying during sessions with me as we work through challenging areas – don’t worry, I always make sure they leave with a smile on their face and cake in their belly!

With ActionCOACH, I work with business owners who really want to succeed and move forward in their business. And while I might not be the right coach for everyone (find out why here), there is only one way to find out.
