I was having a  great conversation yesterday with one of our coaches coaches, yes we have business coaches too!

The conversation led to my “coaching style”, a question I’m not often asked but a damned good question.

I meet some coaches who think its their job to beat up their clients, make them feel like they haven’t done things and still have loads to do to be successful, but thats not my style. That doesn’t mean I’m soft, I just don’t feel the need to beat someone up to get them to do something.

My style is all about positivity, now i’m not a fluffy coach but I do believe that I should leave someone feeling more positive than when I met them, and its regularly the feedback I get at the end of a coaching session “I feel much more upbeat about the week ahead now Simon and can see what I need to focus on”

Clarity, direction, focus and positivity.

Positivity is infectious, so if you feel positive, your team will feel positive, if you feel positive your customers will feel positive. Its not about blind optimism, nor is it about just feeling good about business so therefore it will be successful, its just about feeling that you can, even in the darker times or pressurised moments in business.

So I have a positive, no nonsense style to my coaching, I’m glad we cleared that up… now who’s for some positivity?
