I meet lots of business owners and a good proportion of them have lost their mojo, started to fall out of love with their business or certainly the role they now have in the business.

So why?

For some its because they have not only reached but often surpassed the original goal they set for the business and therefore everything has become ok. They went straight past it, didnt celebrate success and didn’t set the next stretch goal.

“Ok” is a dangerous place to be, you either reach complacency or you just loose the passion to take it onto the next challenge.

Whilst recently discussing this with some colleagues we came across a video of Wile E Coyote and what happens if he achieves his end goal. (I haven’t posted it here due to the language but get in touch and I’ll send you the link)

There is a difference between end goal, purpose and staged goals. For Wile his goal is to catch Road Runner, however, if he achieves his goal then his very purpose in life (trying to catch Road Runner) has gone. In every cartoon Wile sabotages his success of achieving his goal in some way, his purpose and excitement comes actually comes from the chase and building the next crazy ACME contraption.

So the point of my story, set big end goals, stretch them, realise the strength you have in achieving them and know what you will do if you achieve your end goals.

Asked the following question to some very wealthy and successful people, so was still drives you. The response was as follows…

“Each morning ask, do I have more to give and, is this as good as it gets.”

For for thought!
