Only 32 Per Cent of UK Female Entrepreneurs Are Women

Make It Your Business’ Comes to Kent to Support in Moving the Needle

Maidstone, Kent – 9th May 2019– Make It Your Business is a nationwide initiative championing women entrepreneurs, and it will launch in Kent on 9th May in Maidstone supported by the CEO of the Kent Chamber of Commerce, Jo James.

The events will run throughout the year, bringing training, resources and support to those thinking of starting, or those already running a business. The event is accessible with a one-time lifetime membership fee of £10. It has been recognised and attended by global women leaders, including the Prime Minister, Theresa May.

The recently-published Alison Rose Review found that only 32 per cent of UK entrepreneurs are women, leaving a lot of untapped potential in the UK economy – equivalent to around 1.1 million missing businesses. Make It Your Business was established to support women in providing them with access and support to make a business a reality. If as many women as men started their own business, it would add 180 billion pounds to the economy by 2025.

The Maidstone events will be Championed by Claire Harvey, a business owner with over 30 years’ experience in establishing and building businesses. She is mostly known for her business Seekers Estate Agents, appearing herself on For Sale boards around Maidstone. Today she is a business coach helping courageous female entrepreneurs and business owners to dream bigger and back it up with meaningful action to create results.

Commenting on her role as Maidstone Champion, Claire said, “I’m delighted to be the Champion for the Maidstone events. Having been in business in the town for a number of years, I’ve met many women at business events and I truly believe there is so much potential right here on our doorstep. The biggest hurdle I see is confidence and not having the answers or access to ask someone who has the answers. I’m excited to watch the women who join us flourish.”
