International Women’s Day is a time to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It’s a time to raise awareness of the work that still needs to be done to achieve gender equality. Progress is being made, but there is still a long way to go in the world of business.

Today, women are taking on leadership roles in businesses all over the world. Women are running their own companies, sitting on boards of directors and making strategic decisions that affect the future of their organisations. Women are starting their own businesses at a faster rate than ever before becoming a force to be reckoned with in the entrepreneurial world.

Despite this progress, there is still a long way to go…

Women still face many obstacles in the business world (including pay inequality, lack of representation in senior leadership positions and unconscious bias). According to a study by McKinsey & Company, women hold only 38% of entry-level positions in companies and only 22% of senior management positions.

How can you show your support?

One of the key ways is to address these issues through education and awareness-raising. We need to educate both men and women about the importance of gender equality in the workplace. Raise awareness of the many talented women who are already making a difference in the business world.

Another way to support women in business is through mentorship and networking. Women need role models and mentors who can help them navigate the often-challenging waters of the business world. By connecting with other women in their field, women can gain valuable insights and support; this can help to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.

Also, we can create policies and practices that support women in the workplace. This includes implementing fair pay policies, promoting women to leadership positions and providing flexible work arrangements that can help women balance their work and family responsibilities.

DigitALL

Each International Women’s Day has a theme, and this year’s is ‘DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality,’ where women who are leading digital education to empower young girls and women will be particularly celebrated. Everyone is responsible for building a world without gender bias, both in our personal lives and in the workplace.
