“Life doesn’t get better by chance, it gets better by change!” – Jim Rohn

Running a business can be tough. It always has been. Over the last decade, it has become a lot harder to start up and stick around long term. No matter what industry you’re in, there will be fierce competition. Therefore it can be difficult to stand out from the crowd, even if you’re a seasoned professional. As the business world becomes more and more complex and challenging, hiring a business coach is no longer a luxury, it’s a necessity!

I’ve put together a list of just a few things a business coach can do for you. But first…

What’s The Point Of A Business Coach?

This is one of the questions I’m often asked and to be honest, I get it.

What’s the point of hiring someone to tell you how to run your business? You already know how to do that? You’re the expert in your field!

And my answer is this – a coach isn’t there to be an expert in your field (a consultant or mentor might be).

A coach helps you see the bigger picture, not just the “What needs to be done today or this week”.

While you have been running your business (even quite successfully) until now, you:

  • might not have been doing it in the most efficient way
  • will have missed opportunities
  • been holding yourself and the team back
  • you’ve not asked yourself the tough questions that needed to be asked.

More importantly, you can’t see your blind spots…..

A business coach is there to do two things:

  • help you get clarity on your vision for life and therefore the business too
  • hold you accountable to do what needs to be done for you to achieve your goals

A business coach is also a cheerleader, someone to boost you and get you pumped to get stuff done. And a hard-ass (sometimes….).

They will:

  • Hold you to account and make sure you’re not letting yourself of the hook
  • stop you from procrastinating
  • Push your comfort zone to the next level.

And most importantly, they’re there to celebrate the wins with you, learn from the losses and help you build a stronger business.

What Will A Business Coach Do for You?

1. Help you Build An Achievable Plan:

One of the key parts of business coaching is to help you build a plan for the future. This means looking at what your goals are (both for your business and your personal life) and making sure your plans will help you achieve that.

A business coach will work to understand your goals and then help you build a plan that breaks down into the next 5 years, 3 years, 1 year and quarter – leaving you with a 90-day action plan that details all the small steps you need to take to achieve your goals.

2. Keep You Accountable:

If you run your own business, it’s all too easy to say ‘I’ll do that later’. There’s no boss standing over your shoulder making sure things are getting done. So a lot of those little jobs that are a bit fiddly, yet ultimately really important, get put off.   Your coach knows what you’re supposed to be doing, and will make sure you’re doing it. Our job is to hold you accountable!

3. Be Honest:

Ultimately, your coach isn’t there to make you happy. They’re there to make you successful. Sometimes, that’s going to mean telling it like it is, even if it’s not something you want to hear.

Honesty is the best policy, especially when it comes to growing your business.

4. Make you More Profitable:

This is the crux of a coach’s job! To save you time and make your business more profitable at the same time. That’s a bit of a broad phrase, because we cover a lot of things in order to do that.

Including making you more efficient with your time, cutting your costs, managing your pricing and making sure you’re spending your money in the right places.

All of which means you have more money at the end of it!
