How and why would business coaching work for business owners in Liverpool?
This is a key question that business owners on Liverpool, Wirral, Merseyside and further afield have asked me for a number of years.
The answer is a bit similar to why would a drill work for a Liverpool home-owner? No-one, apart from the person who likes to have a templated back drop on their garage or shed wall who has a space for a drill and need one to cover the space really wants a drill. What they do want though, is to put pictures or shelves up and the drill is required to create the screw holes that enables the pictures etc to be mounted.
In reality, however much I think I am good company, no-one really wants a business coach, what they want is to change the results in their business and to use these results to achieve their personal goals.
So, how coaching works is that we start all engagements with an alignment session to clarify personal and business goals and to assess where the business currently is, where it needs to be and what changes are required to bridge the gap. Then a plan gets set and a coaching rhythm is established to suit the rate of change required in the business or in the owner and the business team’s identity and effectiveness.
A typical coaching session starts with a review on progress made since the previous session and then agreement is reached on what the desired outcome for the client from the session should be. The session then is led by the coach, through questioning to enable the client to think more clearly about the business topic that is central to the desired outcome.
Often, a number of possible solutions to the opportunity or issue are unearthed and explored before one is selected as the preferred one to be progressed and a course of action is agreed for this with assistance or relevant business education offered by the coach such that the client is clear what they will do prior to the next session. The coach is available for support, guidance or review between sessions.
As a result, I like to use the metaphor of coaching as being a series of stepping stones across a river. The coaching sessions are where review of the previous step, discussion and agreement on next steps take place with the step to the next stepping store being taken by the client prior to the next session.

After reading your article, it reminded me of some things about gate io that I studied before. The content is similar to yours, but your thinking is very special, which gave me a different idea. Thank you. But I still have some questions I want to ask you, I will always pay attention. Thanks.
