When I’m coaching clients I work with them to get the discipline of setting Goals, then applying the right plans/strategies to achieve the goals, then the right actions in the right order by the right people in your team to execute the plan/s.

If it’s done any other way it leads to confusion. The Brexit advocates had the goal but little else!

I’ve seen many businesses “busy” with actions which bear no relationship to Goals and Plans.

Clarity around this is key.

So let’s start with clear goals. These need to be tested using the SMART acronym:

  • SPECIFIC
  • Measurable
  • Achievable
  • Relevant/realistic
  • Time lined

So for example “to increase sales” is NOT a goal. It’s an aspiration!

It’s too broad and undirected.

The Strategies are HOW you are going to achieve the goal- ie: Telemarketing/New sales rep/

The actions are what you will DO and WHO will do and by when to execute the strategies.

Use these disciplines combined with 90 day planning to achieve what you need to achieve in your business.
