One of the biggest misconceptions about business coaching is that we only work with businesses who are struggling.
Allow me to put the record straight. We work with businesses and business owners who are open minded enough to know they can’t know everything, people who see the value in having someone working with them to ensure they are the best they can be, to challenge them and keep them focussed.
“We work with really good businesses who want to be great”.
When working with a group of successful businesses on Friday I asked the question “why businesses like you work with people like me?”. The answers were wide ranging but included such comments as…
- We need to step away from our businesses, create time to work on it not just in it
- You help us see things from a different perspective
- It challenges our current way of thinking
- You bring experience and knowledge from other sectors which we aren’t exposed to
- We aren’t accountable to anyone other than ourselves
- We only know what we know, not what we don’t know
One business owner even commented on how they had created a monster of a business and now didn’t know how to run it.
These businesses were all over £1m, had been a round for a good number of years, had teams in place and were already really strong businesses, and yet, every one of them has asked me to visit their business to understand more about where we could add further value.
Coaching is personal and each of them is interested for very different reason. For exit, for significant further growth, for export opportunity, for succession and for simplifying the business.
Whatever your reason for looking at outside support its never a sign of weakness, in fact its a sign of strength. It’s perfectly acceptable to have an accountant, a solicitor, HR or marketing specialists, so why wouldn’t you have a coach and mentor?
Our vision is simple, every business should have a business coach, all the statistics show businesses with a coach outperform those without. So if you are a good business and curious about what coaching could do for your business and team then click here and book a complementary session.
