Why do I need a coach in my business? I’m doing really well……. I think……..
No matter how successful your business is, no owner has all the answers. But knowing when to look for outside help – and who from – is a challenge.
Here are five ways that working with a business coach can help you as the business owner.
1. Helps you take a step back
Business owners and Leaders often don’t spend enough time thinking about where their business is going. Entrepreneurs like you need to spend more time working ON the business, not IN it.
One way of doing this is by spending two hours per week, say an hour on a Monday morning and an hour on a Friday afternoon, looking at your business. Reviewing the week that’s just gone by and planning the week ahead, making sure that you are conscious of the goals that you set yourself for the week.
2. Your confidence grows
Even having a team around you, running your own business can be lonely at times. There is no one to turn to when things get tough, or to reassure you that you are going in the right direction.
A coach provides the reassurance for a business owner when they are doing things right for their business.
Business owners have their objectives for their business; where they should be pitching and the partners that they should be working with, but at times lack confidence to carry those objects through. They think that their objectives are only pipe dreams. Having a coach guide them and tell them that their goals are realistic gives confidence to take the business forward. A coach helps owners see what the opportunities are for their business.
3. Changes in your outlook happen
Sometimes people get into owning a business by accident. They come from a background that doesn’t necessarily take them towards business ownership and they don’t get the gravity of running a business.
Working with a coach can change how an owner thinks about their company. By understanding its value, very quickly an owner can see the worth and potential in selling it, something that most owners would either not consider or, consider and then discount it as a pipe dream.
4. Focusing your business becomes stronger
From identifying new markets to turning your attention to your most profitable product or customer base. The objective view of a coach is just what’s needed to get a business or its owner out of a rut or to take it to the next level.
Owners and Directors who work with coaches quickly realise that they can turn a business very quickly into a commercial wholesale venture. But, being creative and online is not enough, you also need to have a niche. An exercise when carried out with the help of a coach, can be carried out quite successfully very quickly.
5. Marginal gains will be recognised
Like Team GB’s world-beating track cycling team, success in business is often about making incremental improvements across the board.
Business owners can see revenues grow more than 100% per annum through working with a coach. You don’t focus on one thing, more so it’s lots of little things that make an impact collectively. Making sure your cashflow forecast is up to date; checking that your lead generation is working; did you achieve that small goal that you set for yourself last week? It’s just simple things you’re probably ignoring or think you’re in control of. But, it’s not until you get things down on paper to focus and discuss with your coach that you start identifying areas where the marginal gains can be made.
