Nik Brooks has been an ActionCOACH Franchise Partner since November 2016

1. Who has had the greatest influence on your business and why?
Without a doubt it’s been my wife Louise who has supported every crazy adventure I’ve undertaken in the past 35 years, be it becoming an Action Coach to taking her and our children to live in Africa when most sane people would have left me to go off into the sunset. Success is a team sport so alongside Louise are some of the great mentors I have been lucky enough to have, my coaches at ActionCOACH and my Dad who was a self-made man.

2.  What is the most important characteristic an ActionCOACH must have and why?
A sense of perspective. Boy, no one told me it was going to be such a crazy journey. The magic of unconscious incompetence giving way to conscious incompetence is a scary moment. Keeping everything in perspective (after all we are not being shot at!) keeps me grounded and able to face the next challenge.

3.  What have you done to contribute to our shared vision of World Abundance through Business Re Education?
I’d love to be able to say more than I have but I am very conscious of helping young people get on in the world and I act as a mentor for a number of business associates who are setting out on their journeys. I am paying back some of the ‘helping hands up’ that I received as a young guy with lots of ambition.

4.  Of the 14 points of culture which one resonates with you and why?
FUN! My coaching journey is different from many and I try and ensure I live life to the full with plenty of travelling (my passion). I’ve been extremely lucky during my career, 25 years selling beer – I thought everyone’s jobs were as much fun!

5.  What’s been your toughest challenge in ActionCOACH and how have you broken through it?
‘The struggle is real’. I’m still facing my biggest challenge which is to shut up long enough for prospects to tell me why they need me as their coach (I can be a little effervescent).

6.  What’s been your proudest/most fulfilling moment in ActionCOACH?
At this year’s Business Excellence Forum there was one session where the exercise was providing feedback. I was genuinely taken aback by the fabulous words my clients gave to me.

7.  What’s your next big goal?
We have two sons in their early 20’s. Helping them get established and growing businesses that will allow them to have control of their lives is both an inspiration and driver.
